  5. To A.Su,

I know it is very hard to tell the difference at the beginning. Criticism here doe not mean "say it is bad or god" - what "criticize" generally means. Criticism means after researches you analyze in a objective way using academic methodology such as examples, quotations, etc. that can support you arguments.

For example, you want to persuade you dad to buy you a Wii instead of PS3. You will not say PS3 is not good for girls but you may use your friends' Wii experiences and telling your father that you and your friends can share something in common. Then you also can introduce what functions Will have but PS3 not. If you are super smart kid you even can put out the marketing statistics demonstrate the advantages of buying a Will. Finally you can use the fact Will is a little cheaper than PS3 to interest your dad.

If you were simply saying you hate PS3 but you love Wii, it sounds very personal but when your parents try to buy something they usually need to consider the situation for the whole family. Just like a Film analysis, you need to put your personal understanding in a way that others can feel that it makes sense and other readers can feel the same way.

A review tends to summarize the story and plot and also sometimes will give comments about the actors/actress' acting performance. But an analysis is based on above to dig into the techniques, cinematography, and mis-en-scene to reveal the real reason of making this film.

I hope my explanation can help you.^^ It is so long and I know my example maybe teach you to be a "dodgy" kid.

  7. To A-Su,

You choose any film you really want to write about.

The films that Adrian choose all have significant influence. Every film I believe have a review but not all of them deserve an analysis.

Dear A.Su you asked this question which means that you have done a lot of research. I am so proud of you but you need to write something you will be proud of yourself.

You need to write an analysis about a film that you really understand and you have your own understanding about it. And you will use as many channels and as much evidence as possible to support your understanding.

Make sure it is "your own analysis" not other analysis out there.

    ^^
