Introduction

Music is done by Bill Lee al. with Danny Aiello as Sal - A surly Italian man who owns the pizzeria, Ossie Davis as Da Mayor - an older black man who some call the town drunk, Ruby Dee as Mother Sister - an older black woman who observes the neighborhood goings-ons from the window of her brownstone despises Da Mayor, Giancarlo Esposito as Buggin' Out - an excitable friend of Mookie's who "wants some brothers" on Sal's wall of fame, Spike Lee as Mookie - a young black man working in Sal's Famous Pizza, Bill Nunn as Radio Raheem - a towering young black man who always carries around a huge boom box blasting only Public Enemy's "Fight the Power", John Turturro as Pino -another one of Sal's sons. He is not happy about being one of the last Italians in the neighborhood, also about his brother's interracial friendship, Rosie Perez as Tina - Mookie's girlfriend. Film analyse

When you first view the film you have a feeling of so much brief scenes combine together, when you see the whole story you will fount that each fragment is meaningful and valuable, and good make an undivided whole one. At the same time many characters, scene, with the same kind of emotion well connected together. They are both given us an angry and unsatisfied emotion.

Music show black culture inherent in the movement of rhythm and tempo. Everyone use hand gesture, speak like a barrage none stop. Mookie not satisfy the boss give him a lot of job but little salary, but he on courage to quit the job. They were seen as a kind of black culture to bestimulted by this photo .When Radio Raheel, Buggin' Out and some of them friends come into sal’s pizza store .they play loudly “fight the power”bot the pizza store’s boss sal ask them turn off boombox or go outsite of the store.but they don’t want to go ,with some swear words the conflicting upgread.sal use baseball pat distroy Radio reheel’s boombox, Radio reheel was very angry and almost chocking sal.At that time police come and chocking Radio reheel arrest Buggin’ Out.The conflicting break out!

Last Mookie lift a trash bean and throw it into the glass of the pizza store. The othe black people fire the store. Then the story end. The result of the film is a confused; because the end of the film doesn’t give us an answer.will shall rebiuld the pizza store?

What is Lee want to say through the film?Honest and good great mayor, ever trouble the ML, crazy Smiley, hard work and disgruntled Tina, also broadcast in love Daddy, all engaged in frivolous activities as a microcosm of a social character. Similarly, other ethnic groups also appeared in the film American Immigration neighborhood, the Puerto Rican, Italian, Korean, outlines a kind of confusion with the immigrant community's voice. The is a scene in the film, After set up fire in pizza shop Smiley put Martin Luther King and Malcom X's photos of interesting places like is that Martin Luther King condemned the violence, Markem X advocating violence with violence is a way for self-defense, which is the film deliberately created confusing place. Sal’s store was destroyed and Radio Raheel dead, the end show war both sides are lose. So we can see Lee know war can not settle the question, but sometimes conflicting can led to battle!

Technology analyse

For shot

First scene Buggin ‘ Out show a clock on 8 clock,Lee using extreme close up shot zoom out and panning from up to down angle.

Then he set up introduce Great Major using zoom in, the time of the scene long about 1.40s.

Smiley is the third people Lee want to introduce, when Smiley come up he using low angle. And close up to his photo.

He introduces mookie using tracking shot for 30s.

After Mookie he use close up shot to introduce Tina.

The next is o introduce Sal and his sons using point of view ,long shot and middle shot to introduce them. when they are talking to each other the shot point to the speaker.

He used low angle to introduce Mother Sister, because she usually sat in high window.

When introduce Radio Raheel first we here loudly music and big boom box, Lee used low view to show his strong and towering. And high view to show the distance is long.

When Radio Raheel look at other people, Lee will use a up to down angle to contrast Radio Raheel’ strong.

Sometimes Lee also use camera to show people‘s relationship, for example he use down to up picture to show white people’s strong and use up to down to show blacks’ unimportant.

He used long shot and middle shot to introduce three watchers.

Beside view was use to introduce Ml.

There are some others beside views.

sometimes he used closed up for second to hint something, for example he focus on two white people two second to show conflict related with this photos.

Zoom is also been used in Lee’ film.

For color

we also can see there main color of the film is red from above picture. Red color can show angry, hot, and power. There are some other colors in the film, such as the dancer sometimes wore red clothes, sometimes wore blue clothes and sometimes boxed suit. At the same time the backlight follow these changes a little.

For sound

we cannot ignore! Film first plays “fight the power” and when Radio Raheel came out always with this music! We also can here some rock music in the film. When people talks to each other. Sometimes we can here background music at the same time, but sometimes just talk. Most of words they used are ‘f-u-c-k’ just like their angry emotion!
